Ms. Gloria I Songolo

Gloria Inutu. Songolo is a Lecturer and Researcher at the University of Zambia (UNZA), with 30 years of professional experience as of September 2026, specialising in Demography and Health, particularly Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH). She holds a Master of Arts in Population Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Demography, Qualitative Data Analysis, Atlas.ti, and Stata data analysis. Her academic professional career began in 1995 as a Lecturer and Researcher at the University of Zambia. She has made significant contributions to national demographic and health research, having participated in the 1990, 2000, 2010 and 2022 census activities, contributing to questionnaire development, training of trainers, data collection, field monitoring, data analysis, report writing and dissemination. She has also contributed to the 2014/15 and 2025 Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC) projects, the 2018 Zambia Demographic and Health Survey (ZDHS) analysis and report writing, as well as planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), training and research assignments for government ministries and national and international organisations. Her research interests encompass reproductive health, adolescent health, gender, fertility, unintended pregnancy, maternal, newborn and child health, RMNCAH, education, empowerment, leadership, trade, community development, planning, M&E and the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in research and development. Beyond her academic and research work, she contributes to national and community initiatives through her membership of the 2025 EmONC National Steering Committee, National GBV MIS Technical Working Group, National Every Woman Every Newborn (EWEN) Plan Working Group, and ZITAG, as well as her involvement with the Mercy Seat Cooperative and its Planning and Building Committee. Her published work and professional contributions have focused particularly on adolescents, reproductive health, SRH, integrated maternal and child health, unintended pregnancy, ICDL, RMNCAH, gender, education and fertility.
