Dr. Bandana Sinha Kumar

Dr. Bandana Sinha Kumar is a scholar and lecturer in Literature at the University of Zambia, where she has been teaching since 2009. She holds a PhD in Literature, with a doctoral thesis titled The Poetics of Gaston Bachelard with Application to Selected Poetry. She also holds a Master’s degree in English Literature, a Master’s degree in Gandhian Thought, and a Bachelor’s degree with Honours in Botany.

Dr. Kumar’s academic profile is distinctly interdisciplinary, bringing together literary studies, philosophy, environmental thought, and the natural sciences. Her research interests include Ecocriticism, African Literature, and African American Literature. She is particularly interested in the representation of nature and the environment in literature, as well as questions of culture, identity, environmental consciousness, and the relationship between human beings and the natural world.

Her interdisciplinary background enables her to approach literary texts through diverse theoretical and critical perspectives. At the University of Zambia, she contributes to teaching, research, and the advancement of literary scholarship, with a particular interest in African and global literary traditions.
